As part of its commitment to promoting the health, dignity, and well-being of young girls, WERA’S CARE HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION successfully conducted a Menstrual Hygiene Sensitization and Pad Distribution Program at Emiye Girls Grammar School, Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria.
The outreach brought together students, teachers, and volunteers in an engaging and educational session focused on breaking the silence surrounding menstruation and promoting healthy menstrual hygiene practices among adolescent girls.
During the sensitization, participants were educated on the menstrual cycle, personal hygiene, the proper use and disposal of sanitary products, and the importance of self-confidence and self-care during menstruation. The session also provided a safe space for students to ask questions, share concerns, and receive accurate information that will help them make informed decisions about their reproductive health.
Recognizing that access to menstrual products remains a challenge for many girls, the Foundation distributed sanitary pads to students as part of its effort to combat period poverty and ensure that menstruation does not become a barrier to education, confidence, or participation in daily activities.
Speaking during the event, representatives of WERA’S CARE HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION emphasized that menstrual health is not merely a women’s issue but a matter of human dignity, health, and educational equity. They encouraged the students to embrace menstruation as a natural biological process and to reject myths, stigma, and misinformation often associated with it.
The Foundation expressed appreciation to the management and staff of Emiye Girls Grammar School for their cooperation and support in making the program a success. Gratitude was also extended to volunteers, partners, and supporters whose contributions continue to make community-based interventions possible.
This outreach forms part of WERA’S CARE HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION’s broader mission to promote quality education, child protection, gender equality, health awareness, and community development through sustainable humanitarian initiatives.
